Over the last two years, I have worked in book publicity to gain press, media, and social coverage for books in advance of their release date. My work includes gaining blurbs from reviewers and well-known figures such as Food Network's Duff Goldman, secured social media coverage by booking book tours and managing my own book tours for clients. I've booked podcast appearances for clients on The Sex Ed Book Review, This Queer Book Saved My Life! - Seven Minutes in Book Heaven; and Cookbook Love Podcast. Plus, securing media coverage on sites such as Thursd.com, What's Up Queer BC, and various gift guides.
My skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office, Titan Mail, Google Mail, Google Drive, Google Sheets, MailChimp, Cision, HARO, Data Entry, Social Media: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube; Adobe Creative Studio, and Canva.
Alex graduated in June 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree from Temple University in Media Studies and Production under the Business track at Klein College of Media & Communication.
Alex is a 30-year-old white, trans man born and raised in Pennsylvania. When he's not reading, he's cheering on his favorite hockey team, The Philadelphia Flyers, baking, and trying new food establishments in his area. Alex has been working in book publicity for over two years for Andrea Burnett PR which has led him to persuing his own freelance work. Alex works with debut and published authors to secure social media, online, and press coverage. He specializes in LGBTQ+ fiction and children's picture books.
Books have become a huge part of Alex’s life since he rekindled his love for reading back in 2014 leading to the start of his YouTube channel, Pucksandpaperbacks where he shares his love of reading queer and trans stories in Young Adult Fiction with his audience of LGBTQ+ book lovers.
This has led to cultivating relationships with publicists and marketing managers at publishing houses such as Penguin Teen, Fierce Reads, and Algonquin Young Readers and more. Due to his longevity in the online book community, he has cultivated an extensive list of contacts and close connections to popular book influencers and reviewers.
